Lynn Silipigni Connaway, OCLC Senior Research Scientist, has been elected President-pick of the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) beneficial to the 2016 administrative year, and President by reason of 2017.
Connaway has been a component of ASIS&T for 25 years. She has served in a varied assortment of leadership positions within the organization, including co-chair of the ASIS&T 2011 yearly meeting and a Director on the Board from 2012-2015.
“I am honored to have ~ing elected to serve as ASIS&T President because that the Association has been such some important part of my professional and academic career,” said Connaway. “I have an air forward to working with the Board and society to continue to develop an lodge that attracts an international membership of students, researchers and professionals.”

Dr. Daniele Piomelli appointed Editor-in-Chief of Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research

According to KnowledgeSpeak “Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers has announced that Dr. Daniele Piomelli has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research. Dr. Piomelli serves at the same time that Louise Turner Arnold Chair in Neurosciences and Professor of Anatomy and Neurobiology, Pharmacology, and Biological Chemistry at University of California, Irvine. He is in addition founding director of the unit of medicine discovery and development (D3) at the Italian Institute of Technology in Genoa, Italy.

Dr. Piomelli is the originator of more than 300 peer-reviewed articles, three filled-length books, and 25 patents. He has accepted several awards and honours, including the Dargut and Milena Kemali Prize in Neuroscience and the National Alliance against Research on Depression and Schizophrenia (NARSAD) Outstanding Investigator Award.

He has made diverse contributions to the pharmacology of lipid-based signalling molecules. With his collaborators, he elucidated the biochemical pathways involved in the making up and deactivation of endocannabinoid substances – including anandamide and 2-AG – and uncovered sundry physiological functions served by these substances in the brain and in peripheral tissues. Additionally, his lab discovered the role of the lipid amides – oleoylethanolamide and palmitoylethanolamide – in the ascendency of energy balance, inflammation, and hurt, and identified their cellular receptors.
